Frequently asked questions
What happens if I book a cruise and the weather is too bad to put to sea?
In the event that the weather is not suitable to put to sea we will cancel the trip and
you will have the option of a full refund or to rebook for another time.
Do any of your passengers get sea sick? Is there anything I can take to prevent this?
A catamarans stability minimises the likelyhood of seasickness. However, better to be safe
than sorry. If this is your first time out on the ocean or you are prone to motion sickness,
medication is readily available from the chemist, most should be taken at least an hour
before your trip, it's too late once you're underway. Eat a good high carbohydrate breakfast,
avoid fatty and fried foods.
Seasickness can sometimes be prevented if caught in time. Stay outside, take deep breaths
through your nose, look at the horizon, ginger ale helps and we always have some on board.
The only guaranteed 100% cure we know of is to sit under a tree.
What should I wear on a cruise?
Dress casually in layers allowing for changes in the weather, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat
with a tie down (we loose a lot of hats), NO BLACK SOLED SHOES. Boat shoes or sneakers
with rubber soles are the best.
Is alcohol allowed on board?
Is alcohol allowed on board? Wandera is byog, but please leave your esky's at home as we will
supply ice for the large capacity inbuilt ice chests in the cockpit and there is refrigeration
in the galley.
What type of whale am I likely to see on a whale watching cruise?
Humpbacks are the most common, it is estimated that 9,000 (2007) make the annual migration up
and down the east coast each year. You may also spot the Southern Right and if you really get
lucky a Sperm or Blue Whale. For more information see the
Whales page.
Are we likely to see dolphins?
Yes Batemans Bay has a resident pod of around 10 dolphins including young and they usually
pay us a visit during our cruises, we also regularly come across fairy penguins which nest
on Snapper Island and the Tollgate Islands.
